Just a few minutes from Quito you can enjoy refreshing waterfalls, scenic trails, and outdoor adventure. All are found in the Parroquia San Miguel de Nono, 45 minutes from Quito.
How to Get There: Enter the Mena del Hierro neighborhood from the Avenida Occidental. From the Occidental it is about 45 minutes to Nono. Once in Nono follow the Ecoruta until you come to a division in the road. Take the left road and drive for about 5 more minutes until you arrive at the entrance to the Cascada Guagrapamba. Leave your car in the parking lot. The hike to the waterfall takes about 30 minutes. There are many signs along the trail which identify the different plants found in the region, including; moyas, pucachagllias, cedros, cedrillos, sasrapnagas, ferns, elephant ears, etc.
The waterfall is located in the foothills of the Pichincha Volcano, at 2800m above sea level and with an ambient temperature of about 15-20 degrees Celsius, depending on the time of year/season.
Nono recently held its local festivals, where you could participate in the various activities offered, including the Walk to the Virgen of Alambi, the Serenade, the national song, traditional dishes, 6k run, election of the Queen of Nono, cultural parade, and bull fighting.
